原子核的统计平衡过程，是B2FH理论（见元素合成理论）中提出的一种过程。e是equilibrium（平衡）的缩写。在温度T≥5×109K,密度 ρ>3×106克/厘米3的情况下，高能光子和原子核之间会发生大量的碰撞。一方面碰撞导致核的碎裂，另一方面其碎片又很快同其他粒子相结合，最终在核的瓦解和形成之间建立起统计平衡。当核物质处于统计平衡状态时，各种核的丰度可以用统计方法确定。具体计算表明，统计平衡过程可以形成元素的丰度曲线上的铁峰（钒、铬、锰、铁、钴、镍等）。据推测，e过程可能出现于超新星爆发过程中。
