形态特征:天南星科天南星属多年生草本植物。块茎扁球形，直径可达6厘米。叶1(-2)枚，柄长40-80厘米，叶片呈放射状分裂，多达20枚，形如一把伞，裂片披针形至椭圆形，长8-24厘米，宽6-35毫米，长渐尖，具线形长尾。花序柄比叶柄短，5-7月开花，花序的佛焰苞绿色，有白色条纹，或为淡紫色，肉穗花序的附属器棒状，圆柱形，顶端钝。果序圆柱形，长8-15厘米，果序柄下弯，浆果成熟红色。
生境分布:生于海拔3200米以下的林下、灌丛、草坡、荒地等。分布于我国中部至尚部各省区。印度、尼泊尔、锡金、缅甸、泰国也有。
用途:块茎药用，能解毒消肿、祛风定惊、化痰散结。
