In the past 100 years,because of the rapid developed social productive forces,rapid increased population and badly damaged living environment of human from unreasonable productive and living activities,ten great ecological disasters developed worse and worse,and endangered the development and existence of mankind.

This paper,by means of a vast amount of data, expounds the present ecological catastrophe caused by the drastic decrease of forest resources and biodiversity and the sharp increase of soil erosion and desertification in China and epitomizes our stratigic ecological protection work for the purpose of preventing ecological catastrophe.
