aim-7 系列同样诞生于 50 年代中,采用半主动雷达制导,用于超视距攻击。越南战争中,由于客观条件限制(政治因素、敌我识别问题、气候适应性等),aim-7 系列导弹并未发挥多大作用。但超视距作战的序幕已经拉开,作为未来主力制空战斗机的 f-15 选择了第三代“麻雀”即 aim-7f 作为超视距主战武器,配合 apg-63 雷达,争取“先敌攻击”的优势。后来 aim-7f 内部电路进行了改进,型号改为 aim-7m,f-15 随之换装。
