   用分光方法,由视向速度周期性变化而确定的双星。光谱中能看到两个子星的谱线的叫双谱分光双星,只看到一个子星的谱线的叫单谱分光双星。视向速度随轨道运动位相的变化而变化,由此得到视向速度曲线。由视向速度曲线的分析,可以得到一些轨道要素,尤其是双谱分光双星,能得到恒星的质量、半径等基本参量。已发现的分光双星约有5000个,轨道周期范围很宽,短的不到82分钟,长的约88年。
