性质:一般将稀土元素划分为两个亚族:(1)轻稀土元素包括镧、铈、镨、钕、钷、钐、铕七个元素,或称铈族(cerium group)稀土,它们具有较低的原子序数和较小质量;(2)重稀土元素(heavy rare earth elements, HREE),包括钆、铽、镝、钬、铒、铥、镱、镥,它们具有较高的原子序数的较大质量,有人将化学性质与重稀土元素相近的钆也列入重稀土亚族,因此重稀土元素也称为钆族(yttrium group)稀土。也有将稀土元素分为三个亚族:轻稀土元素(镧-钕),中稀土元素(middle rare earth elements, MREE,钷-钬),重稀土元素(heavy rare earth elements, 铒-镥)。
