岩浆囊是火山底下充填着岩浆的区域,是地壳或上地幔岩石介质中岩浆相对富集的地方。一般视为与油藏类似的岩石孔隙(或裂隙)中的高温流体,通常认为在地幔柱内,岩浆只占总体积的5%-30%。从局部看,可以视为内部相对流通的液态集合。岩浆是由岩浆熔融体、挥发物、以及结晶体组成的混合物。
