| 中子源 neutron source 能够产生中子的装置 ， 进行中子核反应 、中子衍射等中子物理实验的必要设备。自由中子是不稳定的，它可以衰变为质子放出电子和反电中微子，平均寿命只有15分钟，无法长期储存，需要由适当的产生方法源源供应。主要方法有以下3种：①放射性同位素中子源。体积小 ，制备简单 ，使用方便。（a，n）中子源利用核反应 9Be＋a→12C＋n＋5.701兆电子伏特（MeV）将放射a射线的238Pu、226Ra 或241Am 同金属铍粉末按一定比例均匀混合压制成小圆柱体密封在金属壳中。（ γ，n ）中子源利用核反应中发出的 γ 射线来产生中子 ，有 24Na-Be 源，124Sb-Be源等。② 加速器中子源 。利用加速器加速的带电粒子轰击适当的靶核，通过核反应产生中子，最常用的核反应有（d，n）、（p，n）和（γ，n） 等 ，其中子强度比放射性同位素中子源大得多。可以在很宽的能区上获得单能中子。加速器采用脉冲调制后，可成为脉冲中子源。③反应堆中子源。利用原子核裂变反应堆产生大量中子。反应堆是最强的热中子源。在反应堆的壁上开孔，即可把中子引出。所得的中子能量是连续分布的。很接近麦克斯韦分布。采取一定的措施，可获得各种能量的中子束。 |
