Ten series of aromatic hydrocarbon compounds including bipheny1,naphthalene,phenanthrene,anthracene,retene,chrysene,benzoanthracene,dibenzofuran,fluorene,dibenzothiophene series from seven lacustrine mudstone samples and three swamp coal samples,as well as five crude samples of the Triassic and the Jurassic in Kuqa Depression were analyzed with GC?MS.

The north-north-west directional faults vertical to the sandstone elongation direction provided the effective lateral plugging condition,whereas many lacustrine mudstones formed during water invasion stage provided the good direct cap-rocks.
