中国地质学家张文佑等于1974年提出的一种阐述大地构造规律的学说。认为岩石圈被断裂分割成大小不等、深浅不一和发展历史不同的断裂块体,由此构成岩石圈的多层、多级和多次发展的断块构造。断裂块体按其规模和边界断裂的深度分为4个等级,即岩石圈断块、地壳断块、基底断块和盖层断块。断块边界的断裂,按其深度、规模和地球物理特征也分4个等级,即岩石圈断裂、地壳断裂、基底断裂和盖层断裂。由于地球内部热力和重力所引起的膨胀和收缩,加之外部天体的影响,地球自转变速和极轴摆动,因而产生挤压与拉张的水平构造作用力,并由此造成岩石圈的块断构造特点。沿着断块的断面产生错动,同时沿着断块的顶面和底面产生层间滑动,浅层构造受深部断块的这种运动所控制,而深层构造又受到浅层构造的影响。岩石圈断块是最大一级的断裂块体,其边界为切穿岩石圈和上地幔软流层的断裂,其规模大致与“板块构造说”中的板块相当。地壳断块为岩石圈内部的次一级断裂块体,其边界为切穿地壳的断裂,又分3种类型:①断块,较稳定,形成于震旦纪之前,构成大陆型地壳,由深变质褶皱基底和不同时代的盖层组成,具有所谓地台的形成和形变性质。在刚性较强的基底上形变常以断裂为主,在刚性较弱的基底上形变常以褶皱为主,如华夏断块、西藏断块、塔里木断块等;②断拗,稳定性次之,形成于震旦纪以后,主要发育于大陆壳和部分过渡壳上,具有所谓冒地槽的形成和形变性质。后期褶皱和变质作用一般不强烈,线状褶曲常不明显,如祁连断拗、闽浙断拗等;③断褶,活动性强,形成于震旦纪以后;发育于大洋壳和部分过渡壳上,具有所谓优地槽的形成和形变性质。断裂发育,褶皱和变质作用强烈,线状褶曲明显。如大兴安岭断褶、秦岭断褶、喜马拉雅断褶等。基底断块为地壳内部的次一级断裂块体,其边界为一般只切穿花岗岩质结晶基底的断裂。盖层断块是更次一级盖层中的断裂块体,其边界为切穿盖层的断裂。该学说还认为,在大地构造运动的建造和构造作用下,地壳断块的性质向着固结硬化的方向发展,即由褶块转化为拗块和台块,但有时也可有相反方向的发展。
