| 番禺市 位于中国广东省中南部 ，珠江口西北岸。面积1313.8平方千米，1990年人口72.4万。番禺是中国最古老的县，始建于秦始皇三十三年（前214），为南海郡治。因处番山和禺山故名 。东汉建安二十二年（217）又将交州治所迁至番禺，遂为州、郡、县所在地。隋、唐、北宋时并入南海县。1949年后复设番禺县 。1992年撤县设市。市北部为海拔50米以下低丘，南部为珠江冲积平原，地势由北、西北向南倾斜。主要河流有珠江等。属南亚热带海洋性季风气候，年均降水量1900毫米，年均温21.6℃。交通以公路和水运为主，番广、番顺、番石等干线公路纵横全境。珠江航运便利，通广州、港澳等地。农业产水稻、甘蔗、花生、番薯等，为全国主要产糖市。工业有机械、制糖、化工、造纸、食品等部门。特产大石腐乳、谢村黄姜、四季仔薯干、虾子、糯米粉等。名胜古迹有广东四大名园之一的余荫园及莲花山、林则徐抗英炮台遗址等。 |
