| 板足鲎类 eurypterids 一类已绝灭的水生节肢动物，因其最后一对附肢宽扁似桨而得名。属于有螯肢亚门的肢口纲。已发现67属300余种。头胸甲（又称前体节）近方形，在其中央部有一圆形突起，其中部有一对或一个单眼，头胸甲之两侧有一对复眼。口位于头胸甲腹面。腹部由12节腹节及尾节构成，其前部 6节构成前腹部，腹面生有生殖器，具细而长的生殖厣，称为A型；另一些具短而宽的生殖厣，称为B型，尾节形态多样，有长刺状、钳形、扁形等。体表多具鳞片、皱褶等。身体大小悬殊。板足鲎类最早出现于早奥陶世，晚奥陶世到早泥盆世，达到极盛，此后急剧衰落而减少，直到二叠纪末绝灭。板足鲎类生活于近岸浅海和河口三角洲附近，营移动底栖生活为主，可能是当时最凶猛的肉食性无脊椎动物。 |
