汉代提花机 织造机器。在东汉王逸的《机妇赋》里,可以知道这种提花机一些梗概。其中“高楼双峙”,是指提花装置的花楼和提花束综的综絖相对峙,挽花工坐在三尺高的花楼上,按设计好的“虫禽鸟兽”等纹样来挽花提花。挽花工在上面俯瞰光滑明亮的万缕经丝,正如“下临清池”一样,制织的花纹历历在目。“游鱼衔饵”是指挽花工在花楼上牵动束综的衢线,衢线下连竹棍是衢脚,一般要一千多根,挽花工迅速提综,极象鱼儿在上下争食一样快。提牵不同经丝,有屈有伸,从侧面看,确如汉代人习惯画的星图。“宛如星图,屈伸推移”是一句十分形象化的比喻。“一往一来”是指“推而往,引而来”的打纬用的筘。他把提花机的作用原理,描绘得惟妙惟肖,提花过程也描绘得十分具体动人。在民间一般是不容易推广的。也不能适应封建经济进一步发展的需要。三国曹魏初年扶风(今陕西兴平)的马钧,少年时候看到提花机非常复杂,生产效率很低,挽花工的劳动强度很高,“乃思绫机之变,不言而世人知其巧矣。旧绫机五十综者五十C,六十综者六十C1,先生患其丧功费日,乃皆易以十二综十二C2”。织成的提花绫棉,花纹图案奇特,花型变化多端,而且提高了提花机的生产效率。虽然还没有更多的资料来说明马钧革新提花机的具体型制,就综片数来说,它和南宋楼璹绘制的“耕织图”上的提花机是比较接近的。
