湖北武汉人。中共党员。1961年毕业于北京大学西语系法国语言文学专业。1949年参加革命工作,历任中共武汉市江岸区委宣传部干事,中央国家机关团委宣传干事,北京大学西语系法国语言文学专业学员,北京大学西语系文学教研室教师、副主任,人民文学出版社外国文学编辑室编辑、一编室主任,编审。全国法国文学研究会常务理事。1958年开始发表作品。1983年加入中国作家协会。著有《法国文学的理性批判精神》,编辑《法国短篇小说选》,译著小说《冰岛渔夫》、《冰岛渔夫·菊子夫人》([法]皮埃尔·洛蒂著)、《巴尔扎克传》([法]莫洛亚著)等。
