| 产地及产期: 多栖息在山区清澈的溪流流水的环境中。性活泼、温和。虽分布于亚热带，尚能耐寒，当水温至5℃时，仍能正常生活。为杂食性小型鱼类，以食浮游动物和腐植质为主。亲鱼在春夏季可以繁殖2次以上。雌亲鱼一次只产数十枚卵。 唐鱼为我国特有种，分布区窄，近代仅分布于广东省白云山、花县以及广州附近的山溪中。由于本种繁殖力不强，种群小，个体数量原属稀少。近年来由于人类活动的结果，严重破坏其生态环境，导致唐鱼在自然界中已经很难发现其踪迹。唐鱼是一种著名的观赏鱼类，在东南亚、香港等地人工饲养较为普通，并外销世界各地。 | |
