油画系基础教研室自1998年起建立,开设的课程主要为油画基础课程和各导师工作室基础课程。通过课程学习,使学生在增强油画基础能力的同时,了解、熟悉各工作室的教学主张、研究方向和教学实践。基础教研室重视油画基础课程的学习,这其中包括对中国民族传统绘画及理论的学习和社会实践。基础教研室主张博采众长,对中西艺术语言进行广泛地比较研究,通过学习、欣赏或临摹中国民族传统绘画、书法,进而加强对传统文化精神的理解与认识,以便把艺术语言的探索建立在中西文化的广阔视野之中;同时,通过学生在社会实践课和下乡写生期间积累的感受,引导学生深入细致地观察、体验生活,从生活中汲取创作灵感,提倡学生关注社会生活的变化和发展,在感受生活的过程中,陶冶学生的艺术情操,增强社会责任感。在教学方法上,基础教研室除了强调任课教师的个别辅导外,更重视阶段教学总结中的集体会看,在个别与集体相结合的教学过程中完成教学实践。除课内所授的必修课程外,基础教研室为学生在课外安排了戏剧、电影、音乐等其他门类艺术的欣赏课,以开阔学生的视野,提高学生的精神素养与思想境界。现任教研室主任为刘刚副教授。
