长期以来，控制硬头生成和处理产出的硬头，一直是炼锡过程中的一个难题。中国在60年代初，把硬头与含锡炉渣搭配加入烟化炉，硬头里的锡挥发，得到含锡50％的烟尘；铁经氧化造渣除去，从根本上解决了硬头的处理问题。
