垂直吊装重物的简单起重机械。它自重小，结构紧凑。有手动和电动两种。
① 手动滑车。由人力拉动曳引链,通过蜗杆蜗轮驱动链卷筒，使重物升降。采用载重自制式制动器，载荷越重制动力矩越大，安全可靠。工作范围为挂钩下的一条垂直线。
② 电动滑车。由电动机驱动齿轮传动机构、钢丝绳卷筒和吊钩滑轮，使重物升降(见图)。其壳体内为钢丝绳卷筒，与电动机和带制动器的齿轮传动机构相联。中间壳体上部有吊耳。挂定后可垂直吊装重物。也可将滑车挂在运行小车上，成为运行式载重小车，沿架空轨道行驶，在车间内部或车间与车间之间运送物料。
