采用相关技术制成的流量计。如果在被测介质的流动中存在可以测出的扰动因素，或把某种可测的扰动因素(如空气泡、悬浮状态的固体、密度变化或紊流状态)加到被测介质中，则通过安装在管道上相隔一段距离的两个传感器测量流体的扰动和通过相关仪测定流体扰动的渡越时间，便可据以计算出流体的速度。下图是相关流量计的示意图。传感器用来测量流体的随机扰动，可采用电导率或电容测量的方法，也可用温差电偶、光电式传感器和超声波传感器。根据随机扰动求出互相关函数Rxy(τ)达到最大值的时间延迟τ(见相关函数)，就是渡越时间。互相关函数的测量是耗费时间的复杂过程。相关仪一般由计算机组成。随着微处理机技术的成熟和应用日益普遍，适合于工业用的相关流量计已经研制出来。这种流量计的优点是不需要标定，可制成夹装在管道上的形式,避免腐蚀和磨损，减少安装和维护费用,而且传感器与管道尺寸无关，其性能不受流体性质（如粘度、电导率和温度）的影响。
