兰化公司中小学总校第四中学（简称兰化四中），为 “兰州市示范性中学”、市“体育传统项目训练点学校”、西固区“青少年体育俱乐部后备人材培训基地”，始创于1982年，建校初期暂无校舍，流动办学，现址于1986年建成。学校占地26000 m2，有教学楼、办公综合楼各一栋，建筑面积13315 m2，操场面积11200m2。拥有设备齐全的理、化、生实验室，生物标本室，多媒体视听室，大屏幕投影室，微机室及远程教育网地面接收系统，劳技课专用教室，教师课件制作室等，教室均装有听力系统、配有投影仪；设有师、生阅览室，图书馆藏书5万余册。
现有6个年级，28个教学班，学生1500余人。教职工104人，平均年龄33.2岁，大专以上学历100人，学历平均达标率96%，中级职称以上77人。有省、市、区级学科带头人25人，有8位教师获兰州市“教学新秀”称号。
学校以“严谨勤奋、求实创新”为校训，坚持“德育为首、全面发展、团结进取、争创一流”的办学目标，要求教师“教书育人、严谨严格、言传身教、精益求精”，努力培养“勤奋好学、诚实向上、刻苦钻研、学有创见”的一代新人，形成“富有理想、勤奋好学、求实创新、文明守纪”的校风。
学校注重学生的养成教育，一贯坚持面向全体，多渠道渗透，全面育人，使学生生动活泼的学习。在教学中，倡导支持教师创新实践，引进“张思中英语教学法”，聘请外籍教师讲课；在数学课堂推广“尝试教学法”。学生辩论会、新闻发布会、演讲会等活动别开生面；一年一度的“艺术节”、 “英语节”等富有特色的大型活动为学生提供了广阔的学习实践空间，培植了多方兴趣和爱好。
自1988年至今， 16届高中毕业生，有1600多名被省内外高等学府录取， 8名同学跻身全省高考前四名，近年来，高考进线率逐年上升，2001年达90.6%。近三年学生参加省级以上学科竞赛，有330多人次获奖。学校曾获兰州市教育系统“先进集体”，“三化”（净、绿、美）先进集体，先后5次获兰化公司“模范集体”， 98-2002年，连续5年获市“教育质量优秀奖”。1995年被国家教委体育卫生与艺术教育司授予“全国学生视力监测先进学校”。
