Author introduced the process for poisoning trouble of ammonia synthesis catalyst caused by combined methanol production with ammonia synthesis, in allusion to analysis made for the unfavoured influence caused on ammonia synthesis of the injurious gases after-methanol gas, the result shows that the sulfur in the raw gas of methanol has the promoting action for forming the dimethyl ether.

Its use in ammonia-methanol coproduction has resulted in prolonged service life of methanol synthesis catalyst and thus better econonhc benefit.
