分子式C3H6O,分子量58.08。亦称氧化丙烯或甲基环氧乙烷。无色液体,有乙醚气味。极易燃烧。熔点-112.13℃,沸点为34.23℃。密度(20/4℃)0.859g/cm3。能与乙醇和乙醚混溶。能与水反应开环生成1.2-丙二醇。在磷酸锂催化剂作用下,能异构化成丙烯醇。主要用来制备丙二醇和泡沫塑料,也用作醋酸纤维素、硝酸纤维素和多种树脂的溶剂。可由1-氯丙醇或2-氯丙醇与氢氧化钙作用制得。
