Cetorhinus maximus;baskingshark

   鼠鲨目姥鲨科姥鲨属的一种。体庞大,仔鱼体长约2米,幼鱼体长4.5~6米,成鱼最大体长可达15米,仅次于鲸鲨,重达15吨。姥鲨呈纺锤形,头宽扁,躯干粗大,尾渐小。口大,弧形,下位。眼小。喷水孔很小。鼻孔外侧位,距口端比距吻端为近。牙细小而多,平扁盾状,齿头向后,多行使用。鳃孔5个,宽大,自背侧伸达喉下。背鳍2个,无硬棘;尾鳍叉形,尾椎轴上翘,尾臀鳍小,腹鳍稍大,胸鳍中大,体灰褐色或青灰色。
   姥鲨广泛分布于大西洋、地中海、太平洋和印度洋。中国沿海各海区均产。
   姥鲨肝占体重15%~20%,含油量达60%,是制鱼肝油的良好原料;皮可制革;颅骨可制明骨和胶片,肉供食用,内脏可制鱼粉;鳍可制鱼翅。
