又名2-甲氧基荼、甲基-2-萘基醚、甲基-β-萘基醚、β-萘酚甲醚。白色片状结晶。分子量158.20。熔点72℃。沸点274℃。不溶于水。溶于乙醚、氯仿、苯。在25mL95％乙醇中溶解1g。具有强烈的类似橙花的香气，无萘酚异味；类似草莓的甜味。
生产万法：主要采用甲基化法。以β-萘酚和硫酸二甲酯为原料，在氢氧化钠水溶液中，进行甲基化反应，然后经中和、洗涤、蒸馏而得。
用途：醚类合成香料。广泛用于花香型香精的调合香料。也可用作香皂香料。
