有关中国古代装饰画的专著。中国庞薰琹（1906～1986）著。上海人民美术出版社1982年出版。《中国历代装饰画研究》对装饰画的定义和中国装饰画的历史、艺术风格、形式等进行了研究。认为装饰画是用来装饰器物的，一般要通过工艺制作来表现的绘画、插图、图案等，如晚周帛画、战国铜器装饰纹样、汉代画像砖、敦煌壁画、永乐宫壁画以至明、清木刻插图等。书中认为，装饰画在艺术上要求平整、丰满、稳定，造型应简练而富有变化。《中国历代装饰画研究》系统地论述了自战国至明、清装饰画的历史及其时代特色。如汉代的艺术特点是纯朴、深厚,南北朝是灵巧,隋唐是清新、豪放，宋代是清秀、细致等。在每一历史时期，均选取有代表性的装饰画，从主题内容到表现形式进行深入的分析。
