滤嘴卷烟的重要组成部分,由滤材加增塑剂(俗称胶粘剂),用滤棒卷纸(见卷烟用纸)卷制而成。目的在于截留卷烟的焦油和烟碱的含量。滤材通常为醋酸纤维和皱纹纸。醋酸纤维除能吸附烟气中各类化合物外,对一元酚类有选择性吸附作用,减少刺激性、改善气味。皱纹纸的吸附性能虽强,但制成的滤嘴纤维分布不匀、吸阻大,过滤后烟气的气味不如醋酸纤维。滤材主要吸附粒相物质,对气相物质作用较小。烟气中微粒通过滤嘴时,由于微粒的扩散、撞击和纤维的拦截而被滤材所吸附,因而减少了主流烟气中的焦油、烟碱和其他化合物的含量。滤嘴的过滤效率以被截留的焦油或烟碱占烟气中该物质的总量的百分率表示。滤嘴所用纤维滤材的截面形状、卷曲数、单丝数、丝束总数、滤嘴长度和加工时纤维分布的均匀度对过滤效率均有影响。增塑剂除用作粘结纤维提高滤棒硬度外,对某些成分也有一定的截留作用。滤嘴卷烟的吸阻一般不宜超过1470Pa,否则抽吸费力,不受消费者欢迎。滤嘴通过滤棒成型机制造(见卷烟机械)。
