| 辰砂 cinnabar 汞的硫化物（HgS)矿物。含汞86.2％，是炼汞最主要的矿物原料；其晶体可作为激光技术的重要材料。还是中药材，具镇静、安神和杀菌等功效。中国古代用它作为炼丹的重要原料。过去以产在辰州（今湖南沅陵等地）的品质最佳而得名。晶体属三方晶系，与等轴晶系的黑辰砂成同质多象。常呈菱面体或短柱形；常见贯穿双晶。具平行柱面的完全解理。集合体呈粒状、块状或皮膜状。摩氏硬度2.5，比重8.10。纯净辰砂为金刚光泽，朱红色；含杂质时光泽暗淡，褐红色。是典型的低温热液矿物，成因上与近代火山作用有关。中国是辰砂主要产出国，产地以湖南新晃、贵州铜仁等为主。世界其他产地有西班牙阿尔马登、意大利尤得里奥、美国加利福尼亚的沿岸山脉等。
