植物形态：落叶灌木，高可达2.5米。枝棕红色，柔软，易弯曲，通常叉状分枝，树皮有明显皮孔，皮部富纤维。叶互生，通常聚生于枝端，长椭圆形或长椭圆状披针形，长7~15厘米，宽2~4厘米，基部楔形，先端渐尖，全缘，表面绿色，背面绿白色，嫩时两面有短毛，背面尤密，渐次脱落，主脉隆起，侧脉12~14对。花黄色，顶生头状花序，花被4裂，外面密被长黄白色茸毛，雄蕊8枚，子房上位，1室。核果卵形，熟时黑色。 生态分布：产我国长江流域至西南各省；多生于沟谷，溪边较阴湿的林下。 药用部分：全株入药，夏秋采收。 用途：舒筋接骨，消肿止痛，解毒，明目。主治跌打损伤，腰疼骨痛，喉痹，梅毒，慢性皮肤病，头风，早期血丝虫病。
