亦称“难熔金属”。稀有金属的一类。通常指钨、钼、铌、钽、钒、锆,也可以包括铼和铪。这类金属的特点为熔点高、咸度大、抗蚀性强,多数能同碳、氮、硅、硼等生成高熔点、高硬度并肯有良好化学稳定性的化合物。工业上各有其重要的用途:如钨、钼用于柄制合金钢、耐热合金、硬质合金,钨并用作灯丝材料;钒用于配制合金钢;铌、钽用于真空技术、无线电工业(如钽电容器)和化学工业;锆及其合金由于热中子俘获截面很小,用作原子核反应堆结构材料。
