| 三白草科 Saururaceae 双子叶植物纲木兰亚纲的一科。多年生草本,常生湿地。单叶,互生,具和叶柄连生的托叶。花两性,整齐,成穗状或总状花序,无花被;雄蕊3~6~8,子房上位或半下位,心皮3~4,分离,基部结合为一,通常每心皮有2~10个直生胚珠,但三白草属常每心皮只有一胚珠。果实为半浆质的蓇葖或肉质而顶端裂开的蒴果。该科有5属7种,分布于东亚和北美。中国有3属4种。裸蒴属为中国特产,有两种,分布于西南及华南;三白草属及蕺菜属各一种。蕺菜俗称鱼腥草,有特殊气味,微毒,全草含挥发油,具有抗病毒作用,可治疗上呼吸道感染、痈疽肿毒等。该科和胡椒科相近,但该科雌蕊由多心皮组成,常侧膜胎座,茎的维管束连成一环,和胡椒科不同。
