Catalyzed by anhydrous sodium ethoxide,diethyl malonate reacted with allyl chloride to give diethyl allylmalonate(Ⅰ);then through saponification and decarboxylation of(Ⅰ),the flavor of 4-pentenoic acid(Ⅱ) was obtained.

The polyfluoroalkylation lactonization of 4-pentenoic acid with 4-chlorododecafluorobutyl iodide initiated by several sulfur-oxy acid salts, such as thiourea dioxide, rongalite, sodium sulfite, sodium bisulfite and sodium disulfite, to give the correponding fluorine-containing lactones was intensively studied.

Using senecioic acid and definite alcohol such as methanol or other alcohols as raw materials in the presence of phosphorus oxychloride as catalyst, corresponding ester can be synthesized by one step.

Synthesis of methyl senecioate by using 732 type strong acidic cation exchange resin as the catalyst and senecioic acid and methanol as raw materials,methanol outside cycling for removing water has been studied.
