补充资料：总兵府
总兵府是明清时代的称呼，是南澳总兵的衙署，位于深澳镇大衙口。最初建于明朝万历四年（1576年），是当时的南澳副总兵晏继芳建造的。万历九年，副总兵侯继高增建总兵府的后楼，成为一个完整的总兵衙署。以后历经多次修缮。现在的建筑是1983年重新修建的。
由于南澳岛地处东南沿海要冲，介于粤东与闽南之间，是军事要地，封建统治者怕这里拥兵自重，所以一个小小海岛竟划分由广东和福建共管。中间由雄镇关做为分界线。明清时海禁很严，朝廷限制愈厉害，民间走私活动愈猖獗。加上外有倭寇的侵扰，内有海盗盘踞，朝廷派驻的士兵越来越多，南澳的规格也逐步升级，最后成为管制闽粤台的重要军事基地。
