      18世纪法国唯物主义哲学家D.狄德罗于 1770年发表的重要哲学著作。中文译本王太庆译,载《狄德罗选集》,1956年三联书店版。这部著作驳斥了物质可以脱离运动的观点,论述了运动是物质固有的一种属性。对于物质运动的源泉提出了深刻的见解,认为物质是异质的,自然中存在着无限多种多样的元素,每一种元素都因其差异性而有其内在、永恒、无可改变的特殊的力。由这种元素组成的物体自然也有活动力。书中认为,运动产生于物质事物内部的矛盾,无须借助外力。因而,运动永远不会耗竭。绝对静止是抽象的概念,在自然中是不存在的。书中还提出力的量在自然中是守恒的重要观点,从而有力地论证了运动的多样性和永恒性。
