英“旗鱼”鱼雷。英国海军在二次大战结束前鱼雷技术已处于领先地位,其间研制的mk8热动力鱼雷至今还在使用。 1982年英阿马岛海战中英海军潜艇“征服者”号使用mk8鱼雷一举击沉阿根廷海军巡洋舰“贝尔拉诺将军”号。
二次世界大战后英国鱼雷发展走了不少弯路,尤其是1954年发生了过氧化氢鱼雷炸沉英国潜艇事故,迫使英海军放弃了热动力鱼雷研制工作。直到1959年改变了研制方向,开始了mk24大型电动鱼雷方案研制,经过20年才完成mk24-0型鱼雷。以后经改进研制成mk24-2型鱼雷,即“虎鱼”鱼雷,已服役。1987年为对付前苏联的新型潜艇,又完成“旗鱼”大型鱼雷的研制,也已交付海军使用。“旗鱼”鱼雷,是热动力鱼雷,长度5.94米,航速最大达70.5节,低速航程40公里,装药249千克, 鱼雷总重1850千克。此雷是目前世界上航速最高、重量最大的鱼雷。
