| 钱塘江涌潮 发生在中国杭州湾钱塘江口的潮水暴涨的现象。状似直立的水墙，滚滚而来。钱塘江河口的潮差很大，河口呈宽阔的漏斗状且河床平缓，致使太平洋的潮波传播到这一带时，潮差剧增。传入杭州湾的潮波，在钱塘江河口同河流相遇，波面受到较大的阻力，波峰前沿出现破碎现象，又遇水下沙坝，使涌潮分成东湖和南湖两支，继续向河口推进。在尖山和海宁之间，有时能激起10多米高的水柱。破碎的潮峰呈滚滚白浪，高1～2米，以4～6米／秒的速度传播，潮位在短时间内涨达2米以上。每年临近秋分时节 ，恰逢大潮，又正值雨季，平均海平面升高，在海宁的潮差可高达9米，涌潮的现象异常突出。若遇强劲的东风或东南风，涌潮景象更加壮观。
