C9石油树脂是以石油裂解馏分，如茚、甲基苯乙烯、二乙烯苯、苯乙烯、甲基茚等在酸性摧化剂存在下聚合而得。淡黄色至浅棕色片状或块状固体，平均分子量500-1000，相对密度0．97-l. 04，软化点40-l 40 ℃，玻璃化温度8l ℃，折射率1．512，碱值＜4，酸值＜0．1，溴值7-50，碘值30-140。具有环状结构，内聚力大。耐酸、碱，耐化学药品性、耐水性及耐侯性良好。粘接性较差。与酚醛树脂、古马隆树脂、SBR、SBS、SIS相容性好，但与天然橡胶相容性差。溶于丙酮、甲乙酮、环己烷、二氯乙烷、醋酸乙酯、苯、甲苯、溶剂汽油等。不溶于乙醇和水。
