性质: 材料承受弯曲负荷作用将断裂时,危险截面上的最大弯曲应力值。如果截面系数表示为W,最大弯矩表示为Mb,则σu=Mb/W。由于弯曲试验中试样拉伸侧面应力状态是造成破断的主要原因,因此对较脆性的材料可由弯曲试验求得弯曲强度(即断裂强度)。但对塑性材料由于弯曲变形量太大而试样仍不断裂,因此利用弯曲试验不能测得极限弯曲强度。弯曲试验只能测得一些条件性比较值,以研究和比较各种材料的有关力学行为。
