将光学显微镜放大的影像用电影摄影机或照相机拍摄到胶片上的摄影技术。物镜是显微成像的主要部件。物镜将物体首次放大的影像投射到目镜的焦点之内，将首次影像进行第二次放大，并使二次影像从目镜中投射出来，重新校距，使影像投射在胶片平面上，形成清晰影像，即可摄影。显微摄影应注意"合轴调整"。即在摄影机的物镜同显微镜的目镜用防震避光器衔接起来的前提下,认真把摄影机和目镜、物镜、聚光镜、光源5个部分调整到一条轴线上。
为求得高分辨率的显微影像，须选用复消色差物镜与摄影专用目镜或平周目镜配合。显微摄影的照明方法，分为透射照明、落射照明（垂直照明）和明视野与暗视野照明。同时还应注意各种滤色片的选用。
