黄西河为西溪上游，上纳龙峪之水下至长寿桥，经黄岘岭北西流而名。自长寿桥顺谷而上，山茶遍地，毛竹千杆。再上去是黄西河桥，东北为马蹄湾，俗传仙人骑马留迹而名。又传有“仙人草履”之迹，古称仙趾峪。1916年英国基督教圣公会传教士在此建别墅，久圮。 马蹄湾北有大虎峪，沿径逶迤曲行约2公里即为九女寨。《岱史》载“昔有九女避兵于此”，故名。今峰巅仅存房基。寨峰南崖有石人悬立，似猪八戒捧爵饮酒，故名“八戒饮酒”。其西北为龙角山，双峰突兀似龙角而名。其地峰峦峻峭，林木郁郁，人迹罕至，鸟兽出没；仰视峰巅，欲坍欲崩，惊汗流背。山阴是上桃峪和三岔涧。 马蹄湾东有黄西河水库，为双曲拦河大坝，1984年动工，1988年竣工，蓄水60万立方米，既供中天门、岱顶用水，又是山间平湖新景点。水库东南有商店及养鹿场。又上行是凤凰岭，再上至中天门停车场。
