燃气汽车主要有压缩天然气汽车(.简称LPG汽车或LPGV)和压缩天然气汽车(简称CNG汽车或CNGV)。顾名思义,LPG汽车是以液化石油气为燃料,CNG汽车是以压缩天然气为燃料。燃气汽车的CO排放量比汽油车减少90%以上,碳氢化合物排放减少70%以上,氮氧化合物排放减少35%以上,是目前较为实用的低排放汽车。
