In the presence of 10%mol of CuCN,carbomagnesiation of 1-pheny-2-(p-tolylsulfonyl)ethyne and p-methylphenylmagnesium bromide gave α-sulfonyl vinyl magnesium reagent,which further reacted with benzaldehyde to obtain the title compound(Z)-1,3-Diphenyl-3-(p-methylphenyl)-2-(p-tolylsulfonyl)-2-propen-1-ol.
