泥质岩 argillaceous rocks 含有大量粘土矿物,且粒径小于0.0039毫米的沉积岩。又称粘土质岩。包括泥岩、粘土岩、页岩、板岩等。因形成条件不同,有白、灰白、灰、黄、绿、红褐、棕等各种颜色。常见胶状、豆状、鲕粒状结构和鳞片状、毡状、格子状构造。主要由粘土矿物(高岭石、埃洛石、蒙脱石、水云母、海泡石等)、碎屑矿物(石英、长石、云母等)和某些自生非粘土矿物(铁、锰的氧化物、氢氧化物和碳酸盐矿物等)组成。依混入物可分为粉砂泥质岩、砂质泥质岩等;依粘土矿物,可分为高岭石泥质岩、蒙脱石泥质岩、水云母泥质岩等。泥质岩是沉积岩中分布最广的一类岩石,约占沉积岩总面积的60%。泥质岩具有可塑性、耐火性、烧结性、干缩性、吸附性、吸水膨胀性等特点,被工业部门广泛利用。 |
