世界上最早的论述金属型铸造的专著。清龚振麟著，1842年刊印，后收入魏源所编《海国图志》。著者曾任浙江嘉兴县丞，平素注重研习科学技术。1840年鸦片战争期间，调宁波军营监制军械。为赶铸铁炮打击侵略者，他首创铁模（即铸铁金属型）铸炮。随后写成此书，刊发沿海地区。书中详述由泥范翻铸铁模，再由铁模铸制铁炮的工艺过程和有关技术措施，指出铁模具有可以多次使用、生产费用低、产品质量好、能适应战时紧急需要等优点。
