   板状无机玻璃制品的统称。平板玻璃以硅砂、砂岩、长石、白云石、纯碱、芒硝等为主要原料,经高温熔制、成形制得。其主要成形工艺有浮法、槽垂直引上法、无槽垂直引上法、平拉法、压延法等。其中用浮法生产的平板玻璃,表面平整光洁,厚度均匀,只有极小的光学畸变,具有优质高产、易操作和易实现全线机械化、自动化等优点。浮法玻璃的表面质量可与机械磨光玻璃相比,而成本低于磨光玻璃,已逐渐取代用垂直引上法和平拉法生产的平板玻璃。平板玻璃具有透光、透视、隔声、隔热、耐磨、耐气候变化等性能。原片玻璃通过着色、表面处理、增强、施釉、复合等深加工技术可制成热反射玻璃、钢化玻璃、夹层玻璃、釉面玻璃、中空玻璃、导电玻璃、玻璃镜等。广泛用于建筑物,车辆、船舶、飞机等交通运输工具,制镜,制版,家具等方面。
