| 煤化作用 coalification 泥炭转变为褐煤、烟煤、无烟煤，或腐泥煤转变为腐泥褐煤、腐泥烟煤、腐泥无烟煤的过程。煤化作用是成煤作用的第二阶段，以物理化学作用为主。煤化作用包括成岩作用和变质作用两个阶段。成岩作用以压力为主，使泥炭被压实、脱水、固结而转变成褐煤；变质作用以温度为主，压力为副，使褐煤转变成烟煤、无烟煤。无烟煤进一步变质而转变成石墨，但这已不属煤化作用的范畴。在煤化过程中，煤的化学组成、工艺性质、物理性质和煤岩特征等都发生一系列变化。随着煤化程度的加深，碳含量增加，氧、氢含量减少，颜色由褐色变为深黑、灰黑至钢灰色，光泽由弱变强等。成煤作用的第一阶段是在地表常温、常压下，由堆积在停滞水体中的植物残体经泥炭化作用或腐泥化作用，转变成泥炭或腐泥的过程，称泥炭化 (或腐泥化)作用阶段 ，这一阶段以生物化学变化为主。 |
