    俗名月桂醛。无色至黄色液体,低温时凝固。分子量184.31。密度0.83g/cm3。熔点ll℃。沸点249℃。闪点120℃。折射率1.4330- 1.4390。不溶于水。溶于大多数有机溶剂。以1:2溶于80%乙醇,以1:0.5溶于90%乙醇。具有特殊的脂肪气味,稀释后具有近似紫罗兰的香气。
    生产方法:主要采用催化脱氢法。以十二烷醇为原料,在催化剂存在下,经脱氢反应而得。
    用途:醛类合成香料。主要用作紫罗兰、松、柑桔素心兰等香精的调合香料。
