   细菌的一科。细菌为单细胞,杆状或球状,以单极鞭毛运动或不运动,以二分分裂法繁殖,能利用甲烷、甲醇等含甲基的单碳化合物为碳源和能源,所以又称甲烷氧化菌。中国报道了3种用甲烷作为唯一碳源与能源、以多孢子进行繁殖的甲烷氧化菌,因其繁殖特征不同于已知的各类细菌,故建立一个独立的多孢子菌属。
