英国车辆技术有限公司制造的“平茨高尔”（pinzgauer）装甲防护车以其优异的性能，成为了新西兰陆军中的一员。
装甲防护型“平茨高尔”采用与标准型相同的底盘和传动装置，但是安装了新型硬壳式焊接钢装甲车体。车体两侧及尾部各配备一扇舱门，每扇门上部安装有防弹玻璃。驾驶员和车长位于车辆前部并配有一个大型防弹玻璃窗。可搭载8名成员的载员舱配有4个独立座椅和两个相对的长椅（每个坐两人）。全部车辆配备有一个滑动式车顶舱盖，其中30辆将安装一挺12.7毫米m2勃朗宁机枪。
全车的装甲防护能够抵御在10米距离上发射的7.62毫米和5.56毫米小口径弹药以及炮弹碎片。车底能够抵御炸弹爆炸及碎片。该车还可根据用户需要安装更高水平的防护装备。
所有新西兰装备的“平茨高尔”车均采用右舵布局。其动力传动装置由大众公司的2.51大众柴油发动机和zf自动传动箱组成。车载标准设备还包括助力转向和“哈钦森”泄气保用轮胎。研制单位早在2004年就已对原型装甲防护车进行了试验并对生产型车辆进行了改进。虽然装甲 pinzgauer车为军用型，但是公司表示该车也能适用于警察和非军事用途。
