中华人民共和国成立后建成的第一个氧化铝工厂，位于山东省淄博市。这个厂的前身是日本帝国主义侵华时期的"华北轻金属公司张店工场"，1943年开始建设，1945年日本投降时，只完成了年产 2万吨氧化铝工程的80％。1952年恢复建厂，1954～1965年陆续建成氧化铝、电解铝、水泥等车间（厂）。几经改造，80年代初已成为一个以氧化铝为主要产品的大型联合企业。产品有氧化铝、氢氧化铝、普通铝锭、拉丝铝锭、特殊铝、金属镓和普通硅酸盐水泥、油井水泥等43个品种。(见彩图)
