在一定温度T和压强p下,单位质量物质或一摩尔物质从一相转变到另一相过程中所放出或吸收的热量称相变潜热,简称潜热。按热力学电磁理论,在磁场H中超导体从正常态转变到超导态的相变潜热为:

这里Hc(T)为热力学临界磁场,μ0是真空磁导率。由于dHc/dT<0,故此时要放出潜热,相反过程则吸收潜热,属一级相变。在零磁场(H=0)时,正常-超导转变就没有潜热,比热有跃变,属二级相变。见“比热跃变”。
